FINtastic Tip: Integrate nHaystack with your Niagara Station

Written by B. Scott Muench | 08 December 2020

Did you know that you can integrate nHaystack with your Niagara Station through FIN’s Haystack Connector? These quick and easy steps are consistent with a standard workflow, such as integrating a BACnet device. In this FINTastic Tip, we’ll walk you through the basics of how to import your point data into FIN from a Niagara system through the nHaystack Connector.

Starting in DB Builder, we’ll work within the connector tree to create our Haystack connection. Adding a Haystack Connector is as simple as clicking the add button at the bottom of the screen. This will bring up a form that will allow you to fill out a few properties related to your Niagara device.

There is no tagging necessary on the Niagara side. You can automatically tag and customize the point data from a preexisting FIN library by using the "Batch Record Editor," saving vast amounts of engineering time. In addition, the Clone Equipment tool saves even more engineering time by allowing the user to clone one of their equipment to any number of like-equipments within minutes.

Watch the video below for a tutorial on how it works.

As you can see, creating a nHaystack connector using data originating from a Niagara station is quick and easy. All you need to do is add the nHaystack JAR file to your Niagara station services folder. It’s unlicensed and even better, it’s free!
