Introducing NEXIO IO Expansion Modules, designed to work seamlessly with our NEXIO embedded controller to deliver smart buildings, smart equipment, and IoT solutions. The NEXIO controller is engineered to maximize FIN Framework-based applications while extending its functionality with flexible local input and output support.
The NEXIO expansion modules support a range of IO capabilities through three unique devices:
IO-402, supporting 4 analog outputs (AOs)
IO-442, supporting 2 resistive sensors, 4 Univeral Inputs (UIs), and 4 Digital Outs (4 DOs)
IO-482, supporting 8 universal UIs.
The devices operate on a flexible range of power, with 12-24 volts DC/AC. Each device is designed to snap into DIN Rail for panel mounting. The IO expansion modules are wired and communicate with the NEXIO controller through the Modbus/RTU protocol.
For system integrators, NEXIO IO modules offer flexible expansion to support virtually any combination of physical inputs and outputs across a project. By mixing and matching modules on a single DIN rail, teams can right-size IO for each application and centralize wiring for sensors, actuators, and control logic in one organized, panel-mounted location.
This architecture streamlines panel design, installation, and troubleshooting by creating a single, clearly structured IO backbone tightly integrated with the NEXIO embedded controller. Commissioning is faster, scope changes are easier through simple module additions or swaps, and maintenance teams gain a clear view of how points are connected and controlled.
As a result, central plants, large air handling units, and projects with high IO density become easier to engineer and more cost effective, while allowing integrators to standardize on a common hardware platform and still tailor IO counts and types to each application.
For OEMs, NEXIO IO modules provide a single-source hardware platform for connecting and controlling equipment and subsystems, while monitoring multiple points from one compact, panel-mounted assembly. This lets manufacturers standardize control panels across product lines, simplify wiring, and reduce separate interface boards and custom assemblies.
Paired with the NEXIO embedded controller, OEMs gain a scalable, modular solution that can be adapted to different models or configurations by adjusting the mix of IO modules—making it easier to offer options, manage variants, and meet regional requirements without redesigning the control architecture.
FIN Framework adds the built-in control engine to leverage the available IO, plus a modern graphics application for a rich, intuitive user experience. Control logic, sequencing, and alarming can be engineered once and reused, while the graphics layer delivers consistent, branded interfaces for operators and service teams—at the panel, in a browser, or remotely.
For building owners, NEXIO IO modules deliver a flexible mix of inputs and outputs tailored to today’s requirements, whether that means supporting a handful of critical points in a standalone system or hundreds of points across larger mechanical rooms and plant areas. This lets owners align IO capacity with actual building needs without overpaying for unused hardware or compromising on visibility and control.
As needs evolve, expansion is effortless: additional modules simply snap onto the DIN rail and tie into the existing backbone, avoiding panel redesigns or controller replacements. This future-ready IO infrastructure scales with the building over its lifecycle, making it easier to add new sensors, integrate additional equipment, support renovations, and manage energy, comfort, and uptime targets while protecting long-term investment in smart building technology.
Together, NEXIO IO modules and FIN Framework provide an end-to-end platform: flexible, right-sized IO at the edge combined with powerful software for integration, control, and visualization. Stay tuned for more details!
