Clivet SpA leverages FIN Framework in INTELLIPLANT

Plant room optimization system delivers better controls, servicing and maintenance of heating and cooling systems

HVAC is the most energy-intensive function in a commercial building and accounts for a significant proportion of the energy consumption. Therefore, optimization of the refrigeration plant room reduces the energy profile of a building which is why efficiency improvements are so coveted.

Italian equipment manufacturer Clivet SpA has utilized J2 Innovations’ FIN Framework (FIN) to create INTELLIPLANT, the latest generation solution for the optimization of the thermo-cooling plant. Dedicated to medium to large sized applications, INTELLIPLANT provides a solution to safely guarantee the operation of the plant at maximum efficiency.

INTELLIPLANT integrates seamlessly with other common industry BMSs/BASs and can keep an eye on the ‘vital signs’ of the plant system to test and inspect or identify any potential issues or breakdowns before they happen. Predictive maintenance can be applied to help prolong component lifetimes. The data from remote monitoring could also alert to problems such as any incorrect installations before disputes arise or warranties are breached i.e., water pumps that have been mistakenly connected against the recommended specifications.
FIN Framework, (FIN) is an innovative next-generation software platform that has been customized by Clivet to provide an advanced Equipment Control and Optimization solution for plant rooms. From a single console, engineers can control every aspect of the plant room as well monitor the condition of the installed equipment. The dashboard displays real-time information about key components within the system.

Key features include plant diagnostics, maintenance, and reporting. Specialized functions include smart sequencing, optimization and control, that determine the best unit arrangement for the performance profile, variable pumps to calibrate water flow and control logic to maintain the whole plant room.

Being a FIN Framework-based plant room system, INTELLIPLANT is natively built on tags, supporting the latest Haystack open standard 4. FIN provides an intuitive user-experience, intelligent data management and analytics, simplified workflows and shares data to the cloud or other IT systems, via an IoT interface. Custom wizards enable the plug & play installation of preconfigured solutions.

Alex Rohweder, CEO, J2 Innovations notes: “FIN Edge2Cloud technology enables users to easily access building data to service and upgrade FIN-based building, equipment and IoT systems remotely and securely. Until now, this has required IT support, including the use of a VPN connection or a site visit. Edge2Cloud can also be deployed across multiple sites within minutes with a plug 'n' play set up via an optional QR code and is fully scalable to hundreds of thousands of sites for remote access from any browser.”

Rohweder concluded: “Plant rooms are critical, complex and challenging environments that are often left to operate tirelessly in the background. BMS solutions are really ever only standard solutions for a specialist problem. Controlling plant rooms with software like INTELLIPLANT based on FIN Framework brings innovation and performance into this crucial part of building.”
