Same Name, Different Game: How Diverse Roles Drive J2 Innovations Forward

At J2 Innovations, our strength lies in collaboration. Our teams bring together people with wildly different skills — from marketing apprentices to senior developers — who share a common goal: to innovate and support our customers. It’s a reminder that no matter the role, every contribution plays a part in moving J2 forward. Here’s a closer look at a few teammates who approach the workday from very different angles but share the same commitment to excellence.

The Alex’s: marketing meets code

Alex Renwick – Marketing Apprentice
For Alex Renwick, no two days are ever the same. “A typical day in my role involves supporting the marketing team with a variety of tasks – from helping prepare for events like IBS Paris, to coordinating with suppliers for branded materials, and assisting with social media content and blog planning,” Alex explains.

As part of his apprenticeship, Alex spends one day each week in structured study. “This gives me the chance to build my marketing knowledge and apply what I learn directly to my work at J2 Innovations,”  he says. “No two days are the same, which keeps things exciting.”

Alex Badon – Software Developer Engineer II
Meanwhile, Alex Badon’s day runs on two things: code and coffee. “Usually my day is composed of: coffee, morning review of my colleagues’ code to check everything is fine and help each other to catch possible problems or simply improve, daily standup with the whole team to be aligned on the projects we’re working on, [and then] develop the tasks assigned to me,” he shares.

For him, the rhythm of coding is constant but rewarding. “Of course, my day is full of code and coffee,” he jokes. “It’s like fuel for developers.”

Together, the two Alex’s represent J2’s perfect balance: one keeps our story sharp, while the other keeps our software sharp.

The Chris’s: from customer experience to cutting-edge code

Chris Simonian – Customer Solutions & Order Fulfillment 
After more than a decade at J2, Chris Simonian has truly seen it all. “I’ve worn many hats, ranging from Technical Support and Product Testing to Order Processing and Sales Support,” he says. Today, his day starts with “a hot cup of green tea and honey, followed by a team meeting with our FIN Solutions and Sales groups to review progress and future plans.”

One of his favorite aspects of the job is hosting onboarding sessions. “These sessions allow me to guide and set up customers through our portals, answer their questions, and ensure they feel prepared and supported as they begin their journey with J2,” he says.

Chris Marshall – Senior Developer
Chris Marshall spends his day tackling big technical challenges. “My role at J2 Innovations primarily consists of typical work for a senior developer,” he explains. “That includes writing code, reviewing code, defining feature requirements, project planning and estimation, UX/UI work, and communicating effectively with our remote-based team.”

He appreciates the focus time that remote work allows: “I appreciate the freedom and autonomy J2 provides working remotely, while having a great team that’s working on solving challenging technical problems.”

Together, the two Chris’s show that great customer experiences require both the human touch and the technical backbone to make everything work behind the scenes.

The Davids: a dynamic sales duo

David Gits – Global Business Development Manager
For David Gits, every day is dynamic. “I begin each day by focusing on a specific task that I defined the day before,” he says. “Afterward, I review emails and catch up on any overnight developments from our international teams and clients.”

Meetings and strategy sessions keep him connected. “Throughout the day, I dedicate time to orchestrate various activities, such as planning, preparing for presentations or workshops, and brainstorming sessions,” he explains. “I also analyze potential new business opportunities and develop strategies to capitalize on them.”

And it’s not all business — David makes sure to balance his life. “I always include some sport, stretching, and learning or reading sessions in my daily routine. These activities help me stay physically active, mentally sharp, and continually growing.” He adds, "All of that I do aside from my most important mission and priority, to be a good father!"

Dave Dai – Sales General Manager of J2 China
On the other side of the world, Dave Dai is building J2’s presence in China. “I am mainly responsible for the business development and sales of J2 products in China,” he shares. His schedule is full of travel, customer visits, and collaboration with Siemens' local colleagues.

“A typical day might look like this: look at the Outlook calendar and check the important meetings and activities; schedule a customer visit by phone call; take a high-speed train and go to the customer’s city; visit the customer with Siemens colleagues, understand customer background and needs, and discuss the product and applications of FIN Framework,” Dave explains.

But the work doesn’t stop there. “I’ll often have a coffee or meal with customers or colleagues to follow up progress and discuss next steps, then attend internal meetings and send emails for customer requirements alignment and support,” he says. 

Together, the Davids represent J2’s global ambition — one building strategy from a worldwide perspective, the other ensuring growth and customer engagement on the ground in China.
