Over 75% of non-domestic buildings in the UK do not have a building management system (BMS). Our OEM partner, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, is launching Desigo Optic, its new BMS in the UK & Ireland, designed to offer an open, powerful, and scalable building software solution.
Desigo Optic is powered by FIN Framework and brings the latest IoT technology to buildings such as schools, sports facilities, smaller hotels, and retail outlets.
It features a ‘single pane of glass’ user interface that is used to visualize and control HVAC, lighting, and energy performance functions. The open protocol approach ensures easy and seamless integration with Siemens and other third-party building automation systems, IoT devices and IT- based applications. Major protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, KNX and OPC are all supported.
Desigo Optic applies Haystack native semantic tagging to ensure harmonized data and easy access to critical building information. Tagging and data modeling also streamlines implementation workflows, cutting install costs by up to a third.
The technology is the same whether it's deployed on-site via a server or on an embedded controller. Buildings can also be remotely managed through Edge2Cloud's secure tunneling technology, removing the need for a VPN. This allows easy access to data, servicing, and upgrading while reducing the requirement for site visits.
A recent Siemens study showed that fewer than 50%1 of organizations expect to meet decarbonization targets by 2023. Desigo Optic is an important development in helping buildings provide environments that actively contribute to their users' well-being and do so more resource-efficiently. The FIN Framework helps ensure that all building types can adopt decarbonization measures.
