From Beijing to Hong Kong: What Two Weeks in China Told Me About the Future of Smart Buildings

Two weeks. Six cities. Hundreds of conversations. And one signal that came through louder than anything else: China is accelerating. Read our latest blog featuring insights from our CEO, Matteo Pierone. 

Over the course of my recent trip through Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Suzhou, I had the chance to meet with customers, partners, and institutions across the smart building and HVAC landscape. What I came away with was a clear picture of a market in motion, and a market increasingly moving towards open technologies.

When people talk about China's pace of innovation, they often focus on scale. And yes, the scale is striking. But what stood out to me on this trip wasn't just the size of what's being built, it was the mindset driving it.

Everywhere I went, I found customers, partners, and institutions aligned around the same priorities: speed of innovation, speed of execution, and an openness to the platforms and frameworks that make that speed possible. There's a desire for solutions that can move as fast as the market demands, and a growing interest in AI powered products.

FIN Framework: growing roots in China

We're seeing this shift directly in the adoption of the FIN Framework. The ecosystem in China is expanding rapidly. FIN OEMs and system integrators are increasingly choosing an open, flexible platform to build their next generation of smart building products and HVAC solutions on. Our partners in China are building with purpose. They're using FIN as the foundation for products that need to be interoperable, scalable, and ready for what comes next.

AI is becoming a core layer

Artificial intelligence was the topic of every conversation as a traveled across China. Partners and customers are actively integrating AI into their building solutions, and they're looking for platforms that can support that integration natively.
