The home of smart buildings, smart equipment and IoT
Haystack Connect wrapped up last month. This year, the event was virtual, taking place over the course of September and October. This was the first Haystack Connect with our new board leadership, including J2 CEO, Alex Rohweder. Here are some highlights from this year's sessions.
Nick Gayeski, Richard McElhinney, and Alex Rohweder shared their passion for Project Haystack and their visions for the future of the organization and the standard. Recently, Alex was interviewed on the Project Haystack blog. You can read more about his vision and perspective here.
J2 Chief Software Architect, Gareth Johnson, spoke about making Haystack more accessible to developers as the best way to move our industry forward. We need to get more developers interested in working with Haystack, and to do that, we need to make sure we're using standard, popular, well-known programming languages. He also discussed the Haystack initiatives he has been leading to proliferate the standard more, make it easier to use, and attract more developers to the community. Read more about this on the J2 blog here.
Jamie Lee, Global Product Manager at Siemens, did an outstanding job providing a solid introduction to Haystack tagging and the benefits for various stakeholders (system integrator, data analytics firms, and specifying engineers). He took a closer look at each one of these data users to better highlight their needs and pain points. Finally, he spoke about some of the challenges and presented his perspective on how the community can come together to address them.
Imagine there was an open community where device manufacturers and other device creators could upload tags and points to a shared library for anyone to easily access. That's the goal of Haystack Domain Modeler. This panel included: Deepinder Singh, CEO, 75F; Alex Rohweder, CEO, J2 Innovations; Shilpa Basappa, Director of Product Development, 75F; Matt Blount, Director of Strategic Projects, 75F; and Jamie Lee, Product Marketing Manager, Siemens.
You can watch all of the sessions from Haystack Connect 2022 on the Haystack Connect website here.
