From Data to Decisions: Highlights from BCIA Thought Leadership Webinar

2026 Blogs (1)

We were proud to take part in the Building Controls Industry Association's (BCIA) inaugural thought leadership webinar series, focused on data visualization, performance analysis, and system integration in modern building management. The session brought together J2 Innovations' Domenico Di Canosa, Sales Director EMEA and representatives from our longtime OEM partner Coster Group: Davide Manca, Managing Director and Fabio Lamberti, Export Sales Manager. Together, the three speakers explored one of the most important shifts happening in our industry right now: turning building data into actionable intelligence.

What the session covered

Modern buildings generate enormous amounts of data, but data alone doesn't improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, or extend the life of equipment. The conversation explored how integrated platforms, smart analytics, and the right approach to system design can bridge that gap, giving building owners, facility managers, and system integrators the visibility they need to make real decisions.

Key themes included how to unify legacy building systems under a single modern interface, the role of open standards like Haystack in giving data meaningful structure, and why cybersecurity and data sovereignty are now central concerns in any building automation project.

A real-world case study

Domenico presented a live case study: the modernization of a public institution building in London, where the FIN Framework was deployed to consolidate a complex legacy infrastructure into one coherent, cloud-connected platform. The project demonstrated how legacy buildings can be transformed through smart building technology, improving energy efficiency, enabling predictive maintenance, and empowering non-technical staff to understand and act on building performance data.

Coster contributed both their own project experience and broader perspective on where the market is heading, including the growing expectation that system integrators evolve into long-term data partners for their clients.

Why It Matters

The message from the session was clear: the industry is at an inflection point. Building owners and operators want proof of performance, visibility across their portfolio, and tools that work for their business, not just their plant room. The FIN Framework and the ecosystem built around it are designed exactly for that.

The full session is now available to watch on the BCIA YouTube channel and in the members' area. Whether you're a system integrator, facility manager, or building owner, it's well worth an hour of your time.
