Looking back at 2020

Moving to 2021

It’s almost over. One of the most “interesting” years in my living memory. It’s been tough, I’m not going to lie, but after the rain there is always sun and we’ve certainly had a few rays of sunshine lighting the way for J2! To celebrate the parts of 2020 that we’d most like to remember, here are some of the successes (chosen by me) that we've had here at J2 Innovations, as well as some of our most popular blog posts.

Launching Siemens’ Desigo Optic

Back in January, we supported Siemens’ launch of Desigo Optic in the North American market. Based on our principle technology, FIN Framework, Desigo Optic provides a highly efficient building automation solution with enhanced integration across numerous third-party systems.  This is only the beginning for Desigo Optic as we are excited to be supporting a wider roll-out of the product across the globe in 2021. Stay tuned for more over the coming months.

microBMS

Less complex buildings deserve building management systems too! With the launch of our microBMS application suite, we can now offer the full sophistication and flexibility of a BMS-type solution with the simplicity and configuration that more basic controls offer. With the microBMS step-by-step configuration wizard, 2020 has been a game-changer for de-skilled deployment of BMS for electrical and mechanical contractors.

FINstitute

Many of us have had to adapt to a full-time virtual working environment this year whilst still having the same pressures of needing to get things done. Training and learning are no exceptions and the J2 training team has pulled together to deliver a totally virtual learning concept so that customers, system integrators, and end users can reap the benefits of FIN training from the comfort of their own home-office. The ‘FINstitute’ is our on-line university and our trainers deliver quality training to anyone across the world.

Edge2Cloud

2020 hailed a new era of connected buildings with the new exceptional FIN Framework feature, Edge2Cloud. Edge2Cloud paves the way for OEMs, system integrators, facilities managers and end-users of buildings to benefit from remote and secure BMS connectivity without the need for additional IT support or a VPN.

Getting to know the Glue team

Our ‘glue team’ are a dedicated group of developers and engineers that help our OEM partners to develop and adopt FIN Framework. They offer a variety of professional services, such as the creation of user interfaces, configuration wizards, and applications. They also help with the development of connectors, templates, libraries, and algorithms. By leveraging FIN Framework as a development environment, Application developers work hard to create mock-ups and prototypes and specific components for our customers. It's been great getting to know a few of them throughout 2020, like Sarah Padilla, one of our UI developers.

Even though 2020 has challenged us and many others, we’ve come through the other side bigger and better than before. The J2 team has grown and flourished as we have adapted and risen to new challenges.

I can’t think of a better way to look forward to what comes next for J2 Innovations and our customers.
